In an effort to switch up the design of the Galaxy, Samsung has finally released their long awaited Galaxy S6 Edge. If you’re wondering why it’s called the “Edge,” the answer is simple. It’s your standard Galaxy except the edges of the device curve on the sides to extend the screen display. At first glance, it’s a great looking device with an impressive camera, but it’s a little expensive compared to other Galaxy devices.
Let’s take a look at the few pros we’ve found with this device:
- Eye catching design.
- Powerful interface.
- Excellent camera improvement.
And now for the cons:
- Extremely expensive.
- Poor battery life.
- Edge screen really doesn’t offer much.
- No microSD port.
- Not waterproof (new Samsung Galaxy models often are).
This isn’t the first edged screen that Samsung has released. The first model was the Galaxy Note Edge, which is a significantly larger device. The S6 Edge was rumored for a long time as a smaller handset that would ultimately take the title as the FIRST dual curved screen display on a smartphone. However, if one thing turns you away from this phone, it might be the price tag. The S6 Edge is more expensive that the iPhone 6 Plus.
Samsung Galaxy S6 vs. Galaxy S6 Edge
There’s honestly such little difference between these two devices. Obviously, the main difference is the curved screen on the Edge, but other than that there isn’t much. In our opinion, we’d go with the standard Galaxy S6 rather than the Edge. It’s more affordable, the camera is still pretty great, and the battery life is better. However, if you’re looking to have the coolest smartphone in your friend group, go with the Edge, even though you’ll be paying it off for the rest of eternity.
