Many people get confused and feel they have to go purchase that USB-C wall block to charge their new phone.
Nothing has changed on the new iPhone hardware-wise when it comes to charging. It’s still the same lightning port and you can use any old charger you have laying around. The only difference is the new cord paired with the new USB-C wall block will charge your iPhone three times faster than the older USB chargers.
Although it’s not required to use a USB-C cable to charge your new iPhone, it’s definitely beneficial when you need to charge your phone quickly.
