Apple Finally Accepting Water Damaged iOS Devices

Broken iPhone LafayetteAs a smartphone owner, one can agree that water damage is probably one of the most annoying things to every happen in terms of damage to your device. Why is water damage so terrible? Because for some reason, very few carriers have come up with a practical solution. Manufacturers have even gone as far as putting that tedious little sticker inside the phone that turns red when there’s water damage – so as a customer, there’s no way of lying yourself out of that one.

However, Apple has now adjusted their Reuse and Recycle Program which now will allow the customer to trade in their damaged iOS device in exchange for a gift card to the Apple Store. The catch is that if your phone does have water damage and you are looking forward to your gift card – don’t except to get too much of a payoff because the value of the device drops once it’s gone swimming.

An iPhone with water damage will get you a solid $50 in credit at the Apple Store.

If you do happen to have an iPhone and are unaware if it has water damage or not, any iPhone owner knows that taking the back off the device is a chore – so, just shine a light inside the headphone hole and if it looks red or pink rather than white, your phone has suffered from water damage.

While that $50 gift card may not get you a new iOS device, it’ll get you some new accessories.
