Iphone 6 Plus: a Love / Hate Relationship

iphone 6 plus

When a new toy comes out, I’m usually one of those people that will wait in line for it. I’m just a tech nerd at heart. So naturally, I was one of the first people to get an iphone6 plus. When I saw that it was not only a new and improved iPhone, but was BIGGER as well, I was so pumped.

I still remember the day the UPS guy arrived at my house with this box. I thought the box was large, but brushed it off thinking it must have just been some extra packaging. I remember opening the box, my first thought was: wow, this thing is HUGE!

I put on the case (I got an Otterbox Commuter case) and it added another ¼” on each side.

I was a little shocked, a little angry, but also kind of pumped.

The phone was now setup, and I got all my apps installed and email setup. Everything worked great and I was on my way to normal daily usage.

The next day I woke up, and took my new iPhone 6 Plus off the charger.

My first issue was when I walked out the door. I tried putting the phone in my back pocket, as I always do and it did not fit. I tried to put it in my front pocket and it looked absolutely ridiculous. It looked as though I put a copy of the Koran in my front pocket!

So I had to hold it, and carry it with me. And you know I was not going to clip it to my belt, god no.

As the days went on, I got used to using it somewhat. Some may say that is a good thing, but I don’t feel as though my phone is something I should have to “get used to.” I have been an iPhone user since the original iPhone, and have absolutely loved every release. This is the first time I ever felt like switching.

After a few weeks, I had had enough. It was time to downgrade. I could not live with the fact that every time I went to dinner I had to put this monstrosity of a phone on the table. I could not live with the fact that I had to stretch my hand just to talk on the phone.

I ended up selling the phone for $500 on eBay. That was nice because I was due for an “upgrade” anyway, and I could put that money towards the upgrade.

I received the iPhone 6 (regular version) in the mail a few days later and immediately felt like I was back at home.

I’ve been using it now for the past few weeks, and have never looked back. It is a part of me. I do not think about it, and it does not cause me any issues.
