The iPhone 6s is rumored to be coming soon in 2015. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are in the tech spotlight right now, and are the hot item to have among tech enthusiasts. Rumors are a plenty so far. There have been a few images leaked, this is all we really have as of yet.
Things we know about the iPhone 6s
So far we know a few things about the iPhone 6s:
- We know that the name will be the iPhone 6s and not the iPhone 7 (as of yet)
- The launch is expected to come in September of 2015.
- Expect to pay $200 for an upgrade (or $30 / month) on contract for the iPhone 6s.
Bet that the 6s will come right around the same time that the Galaxy Note 5 will be released. For the past 4 consecutive years Apple chose to announce the iPhone in September or right around the fall.
There are very few design changes that are rumored so far, but you can expect a few. The iPhone 5s improved upon the “space grey” which eliminated some of the scratching that was bothering some of the users.
There most likely will not be a big design makeover until the iPhone which will not come until at least mid-2017.
The display sizes will most likely remain the same. Most likely there will be a lot of more options for the iPhone 6s to communicate with the Apple Watch.
Other rumors claim that the 6s will be skipped completely. Some industry analysts claim that the 6s will never be released.
Min-Chi Kuo an analyst at KGI securities stated that the new phone will introduce a wealth of new features which will cause Apple to skip its normal release schedule and name it “iPhone 7.”
MacRumors said that Kuo has a “respectable track record at reporting on Apple’s upcoming plans” so perhaps we should listen to him in this case.
He also stated that Apple will most likely release “Force Touch,” a technology that is being used in the Apple Watch on the next version of the iPhone. This new technology can tell the difference between a “light taps and hard pressure.” What does this mean? This would make it so the iPhone can respond to different kinds of taps and pressures.
For example, when giving a quick tap to send a text message would be different than doing a longer tap/swipe to move throughout a page.
Many other reports included that the Force Tough technology was going to be included in the iPhone, but we are yet to see it. Other rumors state that they will be dropping the “S” from their line because it is a bit too consuming to users.
Wouldn’t it be better to have “1, 2, 3, 4” rather than “1, 1s, 2, 2s, 3, 3s,…” in a version system?
Regardless of the naming convention (lets not forget iPhone 6C rumors) Apple is due for a new major phone release here in the next few months. We will continue to listen to any and all reports that are out there and keep you posted.
