Best Photography Apps for the iPhone

As the iPhone becomes more and more popular when it comes to photography and taking pictures, it is ever more important to consider the tools that are available for aspiring photographers- both for taking photos, and for editing once they have been taken. It’s important to consider what is available so that you are fully equipped to take one whatever photography challenges come your way.

Top Photography/Video Apps for iPhone

Snapseed

Snapseed is an app for editing photos that allows the user to edit pictures with the swipe of a finger, utilizing one of the more user-friendly features of the iPhone and any smart phone – the touch screen. In the main menu of the app there are many features available to choose from, such as filters and, under the tab tune image, the user is able to cycle through settings such as ambiance, contrast, and shadows. These are obviously features that are available in most photo editing apps, but what sets Snapseed apart from the rest is the ability so finger swipe through each setting and select a desired change with the swipe of a finger as well. My personal favorite feature is the use of HDR Scape, which makes pictures taken from the iPhone appear in HD-like quality, but there are many other features in this awesome app and I find more every day.

VSCO Cam

This great app was called the next Instagram, by theVerge.com a couple years ago. While it hasn’t necessarily achieved that kind of popularity as of yet, it is still one of the best photography apps in the App Store, especially for avid photographers seeking a minimal editing approach and a sleek uncomplicated design. VSCO stands for Visual Supply Company, and it’s actually pronounced Visco. The beauty of this app is that it allows the user to edit photos in a much simpler way before sharing them on social media sites or within its own VSCO Community. A must-have for the serious iPhone photographer.

Spark Camera

This app for the iPhone specializes in recording and editing HD-quality videos. Spark Camera enables the user to piece together a video – as they continue to make new ones. The new videos then get placed on to the end of the series of previously recorded videos, which appear as little circles at the bottom of the screen, in the order in which they appear. The iPhone user is able to record up to 45 seconds of video, so if you were wanting something longer – that is the one drawback. To finish off the video the user is able to add in a song from their music library. This app is perfect for multimedia consultants or someone responsible for making a vide o for an event!

There are many awesome photography apps for the iPhone – these are just a couple of my personal favorites. If you have any other ideas we would love to hear from you.
