The Anticipation Of The Film ‘Jobs’

It was in 2011 that the world lost their modern day genius. There is no question that the death of Steve Jobs shook the technology world, and it was only a matter of time before one director would take the courageous leap to make a biopic on the life on a legend. What people did not think of when it came to the highly anticipated movie based on the life of Steve Jobs, is that Ashton Kutcher, the That 70’s Show funny man, would end up portraying the icon.

The trailers immediately caught people’s eye, because for once, a movie would try and capture the life of Jobs without the documentary narrative. When the movie was released, critics did not go after Kutcher, but rather the film’s director, Joshua Michael Stern. The whole idea going into the theatre, is that you are about the embark on a journey through the life of Steve Jobs, Apple’s driving force, but Stern takes far too much of the movie’s time going into the background of what happened regarding other employees. For any fans of Jobs, they want to go into this movie and feel what he felt, not what the board at Apple felt when the fired him in 1985.

However, critics have only complimented Kutcher on his portrayal of Jobs, not to mention the similarities are striking. The film did not stray away from any tensions in the life of Steve Jobs, because there are scenes that focus on his estranged relationship with his daughter. It is important, whenever making a movie on such an icon, that no stone goes unturned to completely capture the life of someone who essentially changed the world. Now, the movie does not continue up to the death of Steve Jobs, which may have been a smart choice for directors due to his regret of never seeking treatment for pancreatic cancer. The movie leaves Jobs on a high note, upon his return to Apple after his amazing creation of Pixar to make the world know that his creativity could not be demolished.
