Breaking Down The iPhone 6 Event

Apple finally unveiled their iPhone 6 at their annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) and along with the two new versions of the iPhone 6; they also announced the release of their Apple watch. However, there were mixed reviews from this year’s WWDC with several media outlets claiming that Apple is just playing catch up with their product innovation.

For the past few months, we’ve mentioned that Apple has lost their innovation after the passing of Steve Jobs, which could actually be true. Yes, Apple released a smart watch, but that’s something Samsung did roughly six months ago. Yes, Apple released a larger smartphone, but again, Samsung has taken over the larger smartphone market.

Aside from the faults that many are pointing out about the conference, there were three main points that we pulled out from the event.

3 Take Away’s From Apple’s WWDC

1.) Bigger iPhone Release. Finally, after months of hearing the rumors that Apple would be releasing a larger version of the iPhone for the 6th model, it’s finally come true. However, the ironic thing is, while bigger smartphones are in demand for companies like Samsung, Steve Jobs once mocked their competitor for creating such large scale phones. Either way, Apple is selling two versions of the iPhone 6, one which is the larger model (5.5 inches), and then the other which is 4.7 inches.

2.) The Apple Watch Announcement. Throughout the conference, there were rumors that Tim Cook had another announcement up his sleeve, and low and behold it was the Apple Watch. While this is supposed to be a first generation product, it looks a lot like Samsungs Gear watch. However, little is known about the Apple Watch, including the battery life.

3.) Apple’s New Mobile Payment System. While this new feature doesn’t currently sound too promising after the iCloud hack last week, Apple Pay is a new payment system where you can program your credit card information into your iPhone and that in turn creates a seamless transaction. Thus far, Starbucks, Whole Foods, Target, Groupon, and Uber are accepting Apple Pay as a form of acceptable payment.
