Capturing Better Video Footage with iPhone

iPhone Repair 4 Less Tech Tips:

Getting the most out of your iPhone’s Video Capabilities

One of the best ways to capture video on the newer iPhone models is with an app called Spark Camera, or “Spark” for short. This app is changing the way that people capture and edit videos from their iPhone. Especially when paired with the 4K-quality recording of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, this app can make professional-looking videos in half the time. AS if that wasn’t good enough, there is now no time limit on the length of the video that you can create.

Spark works with iPhones in a variety of ways, allowing the user to record video straight from the app, change the FPS on the fly to get slow-mo or semi slow-mo videos, and cut and trim clips as you go so that editing is simple and easy. In the past, recording short videos was either too complicated or too simple. Spark has found the perfect balance that makes video editing a piece of cake on an iPhone.  The app takes a bit of practice to learn to use well, but it still helps to start with some basic tips (capturing video with iPhone tips may be found below).

Using Spark Camera on the iPhone

Record from the Camera

The easiest way to get your video content in Spark is to shoot within the app itself. This is done like Snapchat, where you must hold your finger on the screen. But with Spark, your finger can be anywhere on the screen and the video will record. You can also hold your finger on the screen and slide it to the right to touch the icon that appears, which will enable the video to record without your finger being on it.

Import Clips from PC or Macbook

The other way to get clips to work with in Spark Camera is with clips that have been taken outside of the app. This is also the best way to import time lapses, which can’t be taken within the app itself. Importing a clip is simple, all one needs to do is click the plus logo in the top right corner if starting a new clip, or in the editing mode there is another plus sign in the top right corner that will insert the clip into a specified section of the video.

One of the best parts about Spark Camera is the ability that the creator has to edit their videos on-the-go. This is an invaluable part of video editing that makes the process so much faster. One of the most frustrating parts of editing countless hours of video that was taken on a DSLR camera can be how long it takes to go through all the footage. That’s why Spark Camera can be one of the most helpful apps for people that are wanting to put together quality videos.

Adding the Music with any iOS Smatphone or Device

Anyone who has ever worked with video or even just been impacted by one knows how important the music is to any video, whether it’s a feature film, a commercial, or a short video you shot on your phone. The best way to tie all of the clips together is with a piece of music whose pace and mood goes along with the mood of the video. Music can be added simply in Spark by clicking on the music logo in the upper left hand corner.

Experiment with Filters

Another key to making a masterpiece in Spark Camera is learning to add in the right filters. There are currently 16 different filters to choose from, and each has a different strength. Some need to be purchased, but are only 99 cents, and make up most of the available in-app purchases for Spark.

The encouraging thing about Spark is that with it you don’t need to be a professional videographer to capture and make great videos. It takes a little practice, but if someone wants to making great videos on their iPhone (or even their iPad), then they’ll be able to start doing it in no time with Spark Camera.
