The Key Points From Apple’s iPad Event

iphoneApple has held yet another event to announce the release of several new products with updated displays. They also announced adjustments to software updates for computers, iPad’s, and iPhone’s. Apple has been under pressure to prove they are still innovative and can produce products that are affordable and attractive to the consumer.

According to the New York Times, Apple’s chief, Timothy Cook, essentially stood on stage in front of a photo of an iPad that read “iPad – Designed by Apple in California,” then the event was over. Instead of giving us a new and innovative product, consumer’s were introduced to the updated iPad – which basically now just matches the iPhone 5S’s frame.

Basically, all Apple did was make the iPad look like a bigger iPhone.

Aside from the lack of changes to the iPad, there were a few key point of the event,

The NEW-ish iPad Air

Serving as a thinner and lighter iPad, the iPad Air has the same A7 processing chip and M7 co-processor just as the iPhone 5S. However, it does not come in any new colors OR the cool fingerprint censor – which is said to be featured on the new generation iPad [different from the Air].

The iPad Mini’s New Display

The only update that Apple made to the iPad Mini was the new retina display. They also put the A7 processor in it and they upped the battery life to 10 hours.

New Mac’s

Apple also announced their new Mac Pro which is a traditional, personal computer with an Intel Xenon 5 Quad-Core processor – it starts at $2,999, but let’s just round that to $3,000. They also have new MacBook Pro which is thinner and lighter than previous models – this laptop got a price reduction from the company, actually.

FREE New Mac Software

The new Mac operating system – OS X Mavericks – is available to the consumers running OS X 10.6.8 or later for FREE, which is a wonderful word to hear coming from Apple. The new features include upgraded notifications, multiple display support, and iBooks and Maps applications [apps].

So, while Apple has yet to prove that they can update their design like they can their software – hopefully these new upgrades and products will tide over consumers while they start drafting up some new and innovative designs.
